M.I.A

I will be missing in action for the time being.

I have found that the society has been highly disappointing and until I find the human race to have redeeming qualities only then will I return.

Goodbye for now.

Spirituality

I don't know how this blog became about my spirituality so quickly because I guess I've become more apt to complain about my spiritual turmoil a lot these days. I am in two classes this semester which I find really hard to study. It's my Interprofessional Ethics and Christian Beliefs class. These classes aren't that hard to pass and I can do the work for them, but its the thoughts that they cause me to think. These classes are meant to teach you things that can't possibly give you the right answer. How are you supposed to know how I am going to react in an ethical problem. It's obviously my choice and you can give me a lecture on what you would do and what people would see is the best, but would that make me happy. These are battles that I have to fight within myself. I hate that my interprofessional class is taught in such a socialistic point of view. Granted that I support a universal health care plan, but you can't only teach me only one point of view. There is always another argument and I am not completely getting choices. I always have to see my choices before I make a decision. It just puts my brain and soul in constant turmoil.

I am finding especially hard in my theology class this semester. It's just really hard because I consider myself a Buddhist and then I read these text about how I am lost and I need to find the path to God. I never want to say that I have doubted myself as a Buddhist, but I know that would be a lie if I said I didn't. This summer I went through a lot of spiritual self discovery. I have this necklace that I wear of this lucky lady Buddha thing which is really hard to describe, but it's some thing that I just wear just because. At the beginning of the summer my necklace started giving me a rash and I had to stop wearing it. That was strange because I have been wearing that necklace for years and I never had a problem with it. But all of a sudden I had to live without it. But it was good because I was able to live my summer without my Buddhist attachment. When I came back to school I kind of felt empty and decided to risk the rash and put it back on. Sure enough nothing happened and I am back to wearing it everyday. So one day I took off the necklace to put on a different one for fashion purposes and my life felt like it was falling apart. Everything that could go wrong was going wrong and I was in turmoil. I knew that something wasn't right and I came home and put back on my necklace and the next day I felt at ease again. So I know that I always will be a Buddhist, but its hard when I read these Christian texts telling me that I have not found the truth and reason. That my belief is leading me in the wrong direction. As a Buddhist, I would never try to convert anyone. What you believe is what you believe and I am not going to judge for it. If it makes you happy and gives you peace than please continue to believe it. It's not my job and right to tell you that you will suffer in your afterlife because for all I know is that you might not. This is just been my hardest class spiritually because I know that SLU does this to cause this spiritual battle. This class isn't a class with answers or facts. It's what people have grown with, it's like an oral tradition. I just don't know how I can try to work so hard to pass a class that cause so much spiritual turmoil in me. Why? I know that our school wants well rounded person, but this is a bit much. It's taking me 3 hours to complete one assignment for my 3 credit hour class. So I think its hard spending 9 hours on something that I don't exactly believe in. It's really hard. SO hard that I had to take a break from my homework to write this spiel about how in turmoil I am. I guess really it's just a sign to show me that I am on the right path? Well I just hope I find it soon and it appears quite simply. This journey is getting a little bit too rough for my taste.

Another Complaint Of Sorts

Ok first complaint - I hate when people say "Karma is a bitch." Being a Buddhist and all I kind of get offended by this. I guess its on the same lines as 'God Damn," but I still get offended at it. I think mostly I was offended by Toastee on I Love Money saying it because she is obviously unaware of what Karma even is.

Second huge complaint - As always I have been keeping up with my america's best dance crew on mtv and I am getting fed up with Randy Jackson rigging all the results. This week Supreme Soul got eliminated and I don't really like them or think they will win but they definitely shouldn't have been eliminated this episode. It really was Boogie Bots turn. So all the judges were mad that Supreme Soul and Super Cr3w were in the bottom two. So they were yelling at America and the audience saying we're lame blah blah. So that pissed me off. It obviously isn't America's fault because Randy Jackson is rigging all of the results because he's a biased asshole. So Lil' Mama and Shane Sparks get yo shit together. Don't even get me started on Lil' Mama!!! So my faves currently are Super Cr3w and Fanny Pak. But whatever.

Desert Island

haha. I'm kind of weird. I just noticed that I started off my post with laughing. I'm procrastinating from doing physics b/c its fucking hard as shit bah! But as I am struggling to do my homework. I am watching the office. I just watched the episode of ryan started the fire. I don' t really know what it's called but basically the office is set on fire b/c ryan forgot to take out his toast or something. So the office has to entertain themselves and they decide on desert island movies, books and who would I do. But I am trying to compile a list of desert island movies soooo here I go. Ok this list is actually a list of movies that I have seen numerous times and never get sick of. Some by choice and some I just happen to watch it many times.

1. Big Lebowski - I discovered this movie pretty late in life but I think I watched it in a good 2-3 week span at least every other day. It got pretty crazy when people would call me to tell me that the movie was on tv and I probably watched it. It's hilarious and has a little bit of mystery. I mean and how cool is "the dude?"

2.The Lion King - Disney Movies are awesome and as much as I love Aladdin or Mulan. I have seen the Lion King so many more times. I've even seen it in spanish, in french sheerly b/c I was bored. I know all the songs and words even the ones in other languages. ( Ok I'm lying) It's always interesting how much symbolism that lies in the movie too. Or how that things are based off of facts such as black maned lions actually exist in the world. Or that prides are often ruled by 2 brother males. Or the fact that the movie is based on Hamlet. It's really crazy what you can observe from the movie regardless if its the 20th time you've seen it.

3. Remember The Titans - I have been forced to see this movie for billions of reasons in my entire life time. Mostly for the racial tensions, ability to work as a team, over coming adversity, Denzel Washington, Ryan Gosling, etc. It really is a great movie and I never get sick of the movie. This is also another movie where I could probably recite all the lines from. Considering how many times I've watched this movie beyond my own consent and I enjoy still to this day makes it a top winner to be watched over and over again on a desert island.

4. Half Nelson - This movie didn't really get huge reviews or anything and went relatively unnoticed when it came out in theatres. It really is a great movie and I have no idea how I really found it, probably a blog. But it has Ryan Gosling and he plays this drug addict who happens to be a history teacher in the hood. A good majority of the soundtrack are songs by Broken Social Scene which is one of my all time favorite bands. It's simply a beautiful movie and I fallen in love with Ryan Gosling's character if he was sans the drug habit. have never gotten sick of this movie and if you were to ask me anytime of the week you wanted to see it. I would gladly be obliged to join you. This was a hard choice because it was between this or Juno, but I think I still need time to let Juno thoroughly grow on me.

5. Anchorman- Ok this was a tough one. I knew that I needed one of those comedies either it was 40 year old virgin, knocked up, dodge ball, or old school. And I think I am relatively happy with my choice. I love Will Farrell and Paul Rudd. I wish I could have Michael Cera, but I simply can't choose Superbad to watch. It's too intense to watch repetitively. But Weatherman has Baxtor and Steve Carrell. So I will forever live and love Weatherman on my desert island.

So those are my top choices, I think. I am pretty firm on my movie choices. Right? Ahhh I don't know. Yeah I'm happy with them. woooo! What are your choices?

My Beef With Lil' Mama

I swear I complain about the randomest things. But watching terrible tv shows. America's Best Dance Crew is the hottest MTV show. It's basically like Step Up in American Idol form. I absolutely love dance shows like So You Think You Can Dance and America's Best Dance Crew. I wish I didn't, but I love hip hop dancing. I wish I was a B- Girl forreal. To the main point
my beef with Lil' Mama. She is one of the judges of America's Best Dance Crew. She's 18-19 years old? I'm not sure. But who is she? what has she done? What knowledge does she have of dancing in a crew!???? I just don't know how she thinks she has any room to judge these people. She had one song and it was "Lip Gloss." I didn't even like that song very much. Supposedly it was a dance craze...compared to what.. Soulja Boy. Yeah doubt it. bah. Who are you Lil' Mama?! Why do you do this to me? Just get off the show already. No one values your opinion on dance, or life in general.

Back In Action

I fixed my laptop. Jakked a bunch of new music. Found a program to move music from my ipod to computer. I'm on my way bitches. Sanita is back in action yo. WOO!

Relaxation

Relaxation is one of the things I wish I had right now. I mean obviously this is going to be a complaint procrastination post because what else do I do when I'm on this blog.

Written to the sounds of Shiller by Ratatat.

The good thus far.
I am really loving the new Wolf Parade and Ratatat. I don't have the albums completely, but what I have so far is fabulous. It's basically what's fueling me right now.

The bad thus far.
My life is chaotic. It's summer and I have the biggest planned schedule ever. Actual class from 4-10pm for 3 out of 7 days. Work for 30+ hours when I'm not in class. Studying for my other online class probably a good 2 hours 5 out of the 7 days. (It's anatomy.) I wake up and study. I get home and study. This has been the longest week of my life. I am dying. I haven't even seen my mom this whole week. Not that we even live together or anything. Dropping $60 for gas. Dropped another $50 to get my laptop fixed but at least it wasn't $279 as it was intended to be. I just hope I don't get sick.

I just want to sit. DO NOTHING for a day. Go some place random and sit there. With no one worrying where I am or where I'm going. OR worry about studying for my next test. OR worry that I have to get cash to pay my bills. Just sit and watch the day go by. Just sit. I just want to sit.

A more positive aspect

It's too true to say that my life sucks and that I must constantly hold the key to a door. That door that won't open to opportunities. The power is in the struggle that you must encounter and adversity you must overcome. To speak in a passive voice, telling like a fortune cookie that this IS the best times of your life. You must know now that the twitch in your right eye is for the better. The cough and inability to breathe is your nemesis. There will always be another person and someone to rain on your parade. As much of an idealist that you may be, someone has already thought of it before you did. You must learn. YOU MUST LEARN that this is what you have to do. That the worse part is NOT over and you will continue to learn. IT does not make any sense to do this and that or say you are going to. The use of this and doing that is that you will reek the benefits. That it will work out in the end. The final cause is the point and I cannot rest until it has been achieved. For this is what I sound like on a lack of sleep and after a philosophy final. This is what they want of us.

My musical family tree cont.

Ok so far you've read that I wanted Jeff Tweedy from Wilco as my father. That still stands.
Here, I have further developed who I want as members in my ultimate music family.
George Hunter from Catfish Haven as my uncle. Dolly Parton as my grandmother. Ben Gibbard is my cousin twice removed, so technically he's not really my cousin anymore. Oh yeah if you didn't know David Vandevelde is my husband. I thought that was obvious, just hear this ring, Sanita Vandervelde. Yea. I know its beautiful. I had more developments, but I guess I forgot them. I will make a visual tree eventually.

Two Headed Snake

I am in a vicious yet awesome cycle of listening to Born Ruffians and then listening to Panda Bear. This circle won't end. I don 't mind it. But I have no idea when I am going to exit it.

Inspiration Strikes

It's not that weird that I sit and stare at you as you take pictures of yourself on your iphone.
Making sure to take a pause to take a drag from you camel light.
It might be that I'm listening to that usual indie synth beat with an overlay of a 4 beat drum beat.
He feels like he's on aderall is what he told me.
He will sleep in your spare bed because he can.
He ashes into and onto the ground.
He's a person and frowns at your face.
He'll scratch your back.
They say if you give a mouse a cookie. He'll take pictures of it and then post it on facebook.

This Weekend Has Been a Line of Weird Events

Well this week has just been a strange line of events. I can hardly even describe them in detail. Let's see.

It snowed on Monday and it was atrocious.
Still dislike mentor.
3 Days of work was canceled.
I had morning sickness.
Home sickness.
Got time warped into the 90s.
A lady with a warm bag of water.
No country for old men.
99 cent vinyl.
coffee talk.
real talk.
toe taps and spastic claps.
michael showalter.
awkwardness.
man steps out to take off his coat.
leah standing by a lady as she pulls out her car.
inching into a parking space.
elliptical.
roxy wheels.

umm do I have to explain all of this?

I'm A Maniac

I've finally decided on who I think will win project runway. It only took me a week to decide. With much thought, I've come to believe that Jillian will win. She is one of my favorites for some reason. I know she has a bag of tricks to bring out for the runway. I will continue on my logic of her winning. They never choose the most talented designer, in this case, Christian. Chris is not going to make it to the runway because he was never meant to be there in the first place. Rami, although I was debating between him and Jillian for a long time, will do a slightly exaggerated version of his draping. It will be beautiful, and be amazing technically, but it will not be what the judges want. Jillian will make a classically modern line and Michael Kors will be in love with it. They also will alternate winner sexes such as Jay-male, Chloe - female, Jeffrey -male, and Jillian - female. This is my prediction for Project Runway Season 4. Wanna take bets?

Test My Patience

Every time that my body is vertically up right I get this atrocious cough. I think it might be bronchitis. It sucks all kinds of hell. My whole body shakes when I have this cough. So it makes it really hard to write b/c my hand is making all sorts of devil worshiping movements.
Maybe I should start typing everything b/c I can still do that. Well it's less obvious b/c I pause when I cough. It's also pretty easy to simply press backspace.

Lately I've been obsessed with the new Born Ruffians album, Red, Yellow and Blue. It is quite glorious. I wrote a review for it somewhere. I guess you just have to find it on the interweb.

Well, study time.

Medical Terminology

( I haven't wrote a poem in a while and it's about time that I took a little bit of time for myself to do such. Wrote while listening to LCD Soundsystem - Sound of Silver)

It's about that time to listen your words
Although it's as though you're a speak n spell
A battle of wits and rhyme
For I'm too late to register and the bell has rung
I soothe her with a potion of aloe vera
I'm the inspiration for this song
A nonsensical word implies the knowledge
I scream for the righteous
They riot for change
It's an army of love in a field of daisies
A mere question within a conference of devils
No rhyme or reason
The tribal beats of the rain forest are all to catchy
She does this on a regular basis

Day 2 of Sanita's Birthday

Yesterday was my birthday and it was quite enjoyable, I was in a relatively good day. Being 20 feels great, but the bad thing about having a birthday on the inner week is that it feels like it's been Friday for the past 3 days. And today, the day that it is actually Friday feels like a Monday. So I guess I kind of have a case of the Mondays on Friday.

I had a meeting with my PT mentor and that probably didn't end on a very good note.

I haven't had time to go into work. I just haven't had a set schedule and its been throwing me off.

I can't do this, new things happening every week. It's too much of a ruckus for my life right now.

Good notes is that Leah and I are working on a show intro and we decided that we would make some rap(s). It's pretty good shit.

Alison and I are working on a new blog and it's called Toe Taps and Spastic Claps. I am quite excited. Since as you might tell. I'm a little obsessed with the blogosphere. Not intentionally. It's just that I'm a huge fan of essays. I love essays and reading a daily blog is like reading a daily essay. They are short and quaint. Books you have to wait about 300 pages for a climax and 200 more for a conclusion. Essays can last about a paragraph maybe 3 pages. Not a big investment. I'm non committal. Can you tell?

Big news! I got a paycheck from my job back home. So nice...... I need money bad. It was a nice coincidence to get it on my Birthday though.

But as day 2 festivities for my bday we're going to The Old Spaghetti Factory on the Landing. I'm excited.

AhhhhHHHHHAAAAAhhhhhhhaaaaaaa

I woke up sick this morning.
I got a little crazy last weekend.
Going down South Grand and not hitting any red lights is magical!
Regardless if you are high or not.
Thom Yorke stole a harmony from The Little Mermaid.
Sleep is so precious. My eyes are hella heavy.
You know it is quite intimidating. To do the stupidest things.
Count the headlights on the highway.
How do I lose my pants so often?
Hold me close, tiny dancer.
It's only the 2nd week of classes.
It's Mardi Gras, this weekend.
It's the superbowl, this weekend.
I'm working this weekend.
Debating if I should go to work today.
I feel like vomitus residue is in my throat.
I didn't vomit.
Oh yeah.
Sexual Seduction.
Rekindling my love for Jim Halpert.
Justifying my obsession with Michael Cera.
I enjoy Explosions in the Sky, Jonquil and Bowerbirds when I study.

My Misinformed Opinionated Ways.

Ok I have a very few things that I actually take sides for because I usually can understand the point of view of both sides. The one organization that I don't understand is PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals). I often see and read about radical protest of people posing nude like animals. Telling me that I shouldn't wear animal products, that I shouldn't eat animals and all this such. So my question is what do you want me to do? You want me to stop eating meats. That's plausible, but I'm just saying if I was a caveman that it'd be impossible for me to survive without meat. You don't want me to wear leather and fur. I can do it, fur is gross and leather is awesome, but I can live without it. So what do you want us to do with all of these animals? Now that they have the freewill to run around and shit the country. I can't feed them, right? Because that's degrading to them. They obviously can find and feed themselves. I can't keep them in a kennel. I can't keep them in my house or a animal shelter. So you, PETA decide that it's best to kill the animal. Am I right? I wouldn't know because I'm misinformed about your tactics, but that is what I so often read. I probably won't find that information on your website, but it's probably true. You kill animals b/c its better than being in the hands of safe and loving family that degrades them by making them do a trick for a treat. I mostly dislike the radical tactics. I don't know how being radical solves anything. I truly don't know so can someone give me an example and explain PETA to me. Don't get me wrong I love animals, but how do you want me to ethically treat an animal? Tell me what's wrong and what's right.

According to Peta.org
Wrongs - NO fishing, hunting, wearing furs or leathers, no eating dairies or meats, no horse drawn carriages, no experimenting or testing on animals, no animal abuse, no animals as entertainment as in circus or zoos

My views on what I'm doing wrong
1. I'm never going to give up dairy.
2. I'm going to experiment on animals to improve the quality of life for man. I'm not going to risk it on a human.
3. I enjoy the zoo and most animals are saved and incapable of surviving on their own in nature.
4. I enjoy the circus, but the cirque du soleil version where people are exploited for being freaks.
5. Chicken is delicious and I'm never going to give that up.

Other opinions against PETA - petakillsanimals.com
"peta killed over 97% of animals held in their captivity"
Brings that to a total of 17,400 animals....

Fruit Snacks are delicious.

Ok last night I have to say I had the strangest dreams well actually there isn't a time when I don't have strange dreams.
1st dream sequence
I went to my friend Irene's house for a family affair. It was a normal asian affair. I mean lots of food and asian relatives. So I'm used to this b/c I have a bunch of those at my own home. But Irene was about to go to this private family asian affair with her younger relatives, and wouldn't let me go. Which I was completely and utterly confused. The main reason was that at this affair you needed to wear red! It was b/c I didn't have any red on! So that was ridiculous and I had a red addidas jacket on hand and put that on. "so NOW can I come?" and Irene was like "oh..yeah. now you can come." So I was confused on that. That was most of my dream.
2nd dream sequence
All of my friends were in Chicago. I don't know what we were doing there probably something stupid. But something tragic happened and it was overtaken by ZOMBIES!! (sidenote: I have a real irrational fear of zombies) So we were trying to get out of Chicago b/c we didn't want to be become zombies. So we're running around trying to escape then we find out that there is a train that will take us to a suburb that is zombieless. So we get to the train station and of course it is jam packed with people b/c they are also trying to escape. So we're just waiting and waiting and finally we get to the front of the line and people are leaving these trains half empty. So instead of waiting for a new completely empty train that we weren't even sure might come we just jumped on and made a really crowded one. Oh I forgot to say that these weren't really trains they were basically a seat on a panel on a train track. They didn't have walls and comfortable and exposed us to all the elements of the world. So if the zombies found us they could have easily jumped on and attacked us b/c there was no walls to prevent them. So all of my friends were shoved on this train and I'm sitting by myself in my single seat in complete fear. So I am just dreading the moment the zombies will find us, but there was more things to worry about. These trains had to go through tunnels and in these tunnels inhabited bugs and birds. So every time we entered a tunnel I just ducked my head in my legs as these bugs tried to bite me and birds shat on me. It was awful b/c we went through several different tunnels. So we finally arrived in Evanston, a suburb north of Chicago and home of Northwestern. It was a completely heavenly scene. It was snow covered and leftover holiday scene was still effect. It was breathtaking considering that awful dark zombie ridden scene we were in. So now that we were safe from the zombies, we had to find a way back home. My friend Emily had a car for some reason and was going to drive home and I was going to get a ride with her. But Liz and Lindsey already claimed seats and I asked to obtain the last seat. BUT NICK already asked her and NICK who wasn't even on the train we were on b/c we lost him running to the train had of course found his way to Evanston and claimed my seat back home. So I was really annoyed at that. (but seriously that is something nick would do is completely get lost but eventually end back home completely safe) I thought that Emily should've gave the seat to me. So I'm running around trying to find a ride back home and I find Elizabeth. I ask her to let me borrow her car or for her to drive home and take me. But b/c being a student at Northwestern that she would stay there to get some studying done. I was extremely annoyed at that and considering that the zombies would have penetrated Evanston eventually. But I wasn't going to argue with her. So I was still rideless and freaking out. But then I see Fawn, Cassie's mom, driving in her mini van and she points to me and I point to her! It was the happiest moment in my life. I quickly jump in to the van and grab a seat in the back next to a random little girl and Cassie. Kathryn was in the front. I basically flipped the finger to everyone as we drive off to safety. It was definitely awkward sitting next to that creepy little girl though.

Those were my dreams though.

Another Blog About Music.

I don't know why I always write about music, but I do.
I've been listening to Kate Nash a lot. I know I was really slow on this band wagon, but it's really lame that mtv is promoting her the same time I kind of discovered her. So I feel guilty that I am being what it seems swayed by mtv. I swear I discovered a day before! a day before! Please let me keep my indie cred. :(
But i was duped at work today to close for my boss. So I basically just got off work while my boss went home to shit his pants. I think he was really sick probably b/c he ate too much domino's pizza.
Continuing as I was driving home I was listening to Justice and this car in front of me kept braking for no reason. and then they kept doing it to the rhythm of Phantom. As they were doing this we were passing a construction site with those random flashing things. and they strangely enough also went with the music. Maybe the song had way too many intricate rhythms or i was just wanting to see what i want. But wouldn't that be a sweet music video?

Words that are Misunderstood.

I was going to make of list of things that I accomplished this break so here it goes
....

Looks like I've done nothing thus far.

:::

I am currently watching TRL. I watch it from time to time to check up on on current society and see how its doing. It's a mixture of r&b and emo rock. Sounds about right. But I will have to admit that I really enjoy Chris Brown's Kiss Kiss but that song is so 2 months ago. Little did I know. That kid can dance, but I was patiently waiting for this song to appear on TRL and I heard a succession of 1 syllable words so I assumed to be that song. I was wrong! It was a song called CrushCrushCrush by Paramore. I was duped. They shouldn't make songs that are so closely related to each other. (Live blogging:NEW BRITNEY VIDEO ON TRL!!! 3:12pm) The songs are nothing related or even the same genre. But the point is that songs are so easy to misinterpret. I remember that I used to think that Shakira's Tortura was actually called tortuga which would mean the song is about a turtle and not torture.
Well we were singing misinterpreted lyrics at Domino's and confessed a bunch of misung lyrics. That new song by I have no idea who but its called Apologize but a friend believed that the lyrics were it's too late to get a job when in fact the lyrics were its too late to apologize that made me laugh pretty hard. While another friend thought that eric clapton's lay lady lay was lady has an abominable snowman. I don't know how she got that. But still pretty funny. Continuing Evil Woman was sung as medieval woman. That's a understandable mistake though. I mean I think it's really funny that people interpret songs to whatever they want, but sometimes it just seems a little off and you still continue to sing the wrong lyrics. If I were an artist I'd be kind of mad that people were messing up my lyrics. It's like interpreting a book. If you take The Bible and think of it as highly anti religious and satanic then something is wrong, right? Well some parts of The Bible are pretty scary, so I guess that's not a really viable comparison. But who has the time to go to songmeanings.net to find the real lyrics or sitting there to write down the lyrics. I used to do that well at least for Nsync songs. (Liveblogging: Rihanna has long hair in her new video and how did she get so good so quickly!? 3:25pm) So I mean I guess I can forgive you for singing the wrong lyrics, but my patience is so long...

You can find a good mashup of Chris Brown vs. AC Newman on thehoodinternet.com
I am also really enjoying The Cool Kids vs. Le Loup
oh yeah, if you are the hood internet googling yourself come to my school! billikenclub.slu.edu
