Another Blog About Music.

I don't know why I always write about music, but I do.
I've been listening to Kate Nash a lot. I know I was really slow on this band wagon, but it's really lame that mtv is promoting her the same time I kind of discovered her. So I feel guilty that I am being what it seems swayed by mtv. I swear I discovered a day before! a day before! Please let me keep my indie cred. :(
But i was duped at work today to close for my boss. So I basically just got off work while my boss went home to shit his pants. I think he was really sick probably b/c he ate too much domino's pizza.
Continuing as I was driving home I was listening to Justice and this car in front of me kept braking for no reason. and then they kept doing it to the rhythm of Phantom. As they were doing this we were passing a construction site with those random flashing things. and they strangely enough also went with the music. Maybe the song had way too many intricate rhythms or i was just wanting to see what i want. But wouldn't that be a sweet music video?

Words that are Misunderstood.

I was going to make of list of things that I accomplished this break so here it goes
....

Looks like I've done nothing thus far.

:::

I am currently watching TRL. I watch it from time to time to check up on on current society and see how its doing. It's a mixture of r&b and emo rock. Sounds about right. But I will have to admit that I really enjoy Chris Brown's Kiss Kiss but that song is so 2 months ago. Little did I know. That kid can dance, but I was patiently waiting for this song to appear on TRL and I heard a succession of 1 syllable words so I assumed to be that song. I was wrong! It was a song called CrushCrushCrush by Paramore. I was duped. They shouldn't make songs that are so closely related to each other. (Live blogging:NEW BRITNEY VIDEO ON TRL!!! 3:12pm) The songs are nothing related or even the same genre. But the point is that songs are so easy to misinterpret. I remember that I used to think that Shakira's Tortura was actually called tortuga which would mean the song is about a turtle and not torture.
Well we were singing misinterpreted lyrics at Domino's and confessed a bunch of misung lyrics. That new song by I have no idea who but its called Apologize but a friend believed that the lyrics were it's too late to get a job when in fact the lyrics were its too late to apologize that made me laugh pretty hard. While another friend thought that eric clapton's lay lady lay was lady has an abominable snowman. I don't know how she got that. But still pretty funny. Continuing Evil Woman was sung as medieval woman. That's a understandable mistake though. I mean I think it's really funny that people interpret songs to whatever they want, but sometimes it just seems a little off and you still continue to sing the wrong lyrics. If I were an artist I'd be kind of mad that people were messing up my lyrics. It's like interpreting a book. If you take The Bible and think of it as highly anti religious and satanic then something is wrong, right? Well some parts of The Bible are pretty scary, so I guess that's not a really viable comparison. But who has the time to go to songmeanings.net to find the real lyrics or sitting there to write down the lyrics. I used to do that well at least for Nsync songs. (Liveblogging: Rihanna has long hair in her new video and how did she get so good so quickly!? 3:25pm) So I mean I guess I can forgive you for singing the wrong lyrics, but my patience is so long...

You can find a good mashup of Chris Brown vs. AC Newman on thehoodinternet.com
I am also really enjoying The Cool Kids vs. Le Loup
oh yeah, if you are the hood internet googling yourself come to my school! billikenclub.slu.edu

I'm Not Going To Complain

We have untraditional ways of celebrating Christmas. Our family dinner usually begins at 2:oo pm and is a buffet that last throughout the night, we wait till midnight to open our gifts, we don't get wasted on wine, and the older relatives usually go gambling at some point. Considering my last post, it seemed that we weren't going to be celebrating Christmas this year, 5 days before
Then one day we put up Christmas lights and a tree. So it was a very abrupt change in attitude. I managed to drop so much money on Christmas presents in a matter of hours, it was ridiculous. But you know what it was worth it. My gifts were a strange eclectic mix I would say, consisting of tiered platters, Nas Greatest Hits, 300, Spiderman 2, and a keychain. But it was the thought that counts right?
Getting to the point, boy did I get an overhaul of awesome Christmas gifts. I had no idea that I had so many gifts under the tree. It also shows that my family obviously knows how much of a fat nerd I am. Well first of all, I must say that this holiday season, I got 3 scarves, hat, and mitten sets. 3! I don't know if that seems excessive but it kind of is because I already had 4 scarves. Although I will admit that I had 0 to begin this winter season. So my total of scarves is 7! One for everyday of the week. And they are in all different colors! I'm actually sincerely excited for all of my scarves, hats and mittens. Continuing on with clothinng. I got this. Not the girl but A Harry Potter Gryffindor blazer structure with detachable hood. Lovely I must say. I have been dwindling on my blazer collection, but seriously how nerdy could I be? I'm a college student obsessed with a series books that has just ended. There are still movies to be made and a theme park. I still have time!
Other such clothing items I received are old navy cashmere sweaters. MAGICAL. Well not as magical as HP blazers but softer. Jeans and a tshirt.

What is that? You ask. It's a Dwight Shrute Bobble Head. Yes, I received that for Christmas. Secretly, I had wanted it, but was not brave enough to muster the courage and forfeit the moolah to own such an item. Luckily, I was fortunate enough to receive it as a gift.
From my mother, the subtly of care in my physical appearance. A bare minerals bare escentuals starter kit. I also have been actively saying I wanted this, but would never buy it and never thought I would receive it. So excited I am that I will look oh so natural and stop having a cake face without a fear of that line on my chin. Magnificent. This gift I recieved accompanied with a scale that tells me my body fat and my hydration level. Mother dearest is implying that I should be putting myself on the market soon? Makeup and a scale? Thanks mummy.

So there you have it. Christmas gifts for a fat nerd. Fabulous. Hope ya'lls have a good one.

Final Final Countdown

Only 6 hours before my last final! Ayii and I go home. How glorious!

But I got this book from my secret santa and I feel like I am going to have all sorts of fun with it.
Addition: I was looking at the end of the book and i read the biography of the author and the illustrator and it listed their past jobs and it was (i combined them)teacher, pizza maker, ice cream scooper, nightclub owner, and writer. And i tutor preschoolers, am a pizza maker, used to be an ice cream scooper, a writer, and hopefully next year will be a nightclub manager. So basically I could've made this book myself!

If you check my last.fm right now. You will see all the embarrassing songs that I am listening to right now. If you could see all the songs that I've downloaded. I found this magically url that if you plug into google and fill in the artist you want will yield you all this free music. It mostly works for mainstream, but some links have expired so it can be exhausting and frustrating when all you want to hear is Stop by the Spice Girls.

I decided that I was going to make my ultimate indie family. Meaning just a bunch of people I wish were related to me. I haven't completed or even compiled this list, but so far I know that I want Jeff Tweedy as my dad. He would pick me up if I asked him too.

I think I have carpal tunnel and I have this huge knot in my right shoulder. I pinched a nerve in my left wrist, but it hasn't been shooting any pain lately.

I hate my psychology book with a fiery passion. I seriously want to burn it into the fiery depths of hell. It's a terrible book designed for a college student with billions of irrelevant pop culture references and the worse part is that its not in columns. That gets me the most. Who doesn't write books in columns? What an arse.
Ex. page 656 has a picture of leonardo decaprio
page 670 has a picture of brooke shields
page 734 has a picture of harajuku girls
page 755 has a picture of Ron Artest of the Pacers' attacking a fan
page 766 has a picture of George Bush and John Kerry (claiming that GWB is more attractive than JK and that is why GWB won the election)
Actually those were the sections I just studied, but now I will look in the name index and see how many celebrities I can give you guys
Ex. Bloom, O. - page 100
Pitt, B. - page 370
I can't do this anymore. It's frustrating me too much.

I'll be home tonight.
